Nongjrong is a small community with about 1440 residents. The inhabitants are adept in speaking solely English, which is their native tongue. Situated roughly 30 km from the sub-district headquarters and 60 km from the district headquarters, Shillong, the village is part of the Mawkynrew Tehsil. The village is well known for its traditional lifestyle and environmentally friendly habits. The area’s residents’ main source of income is agriculture, which they rely significantly on. They raise livestock like cows, goats, pigs, and chickens in addition to cultivating a range of crops like rice, maize, millet, and vegetables.
